Mr Tan was appointed an Independent Director on 28 January 2021 and was the Lead Independent Director from 31 December 2021 to 1 May 2025. He is Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee and a member of the Nominating Committee. He was last re-elected on 26 April 2024.

Mr Tan has approximately 35 years of experience in the audit industry. He joined Ernst & Young LLP (then known as Ernst & Whinney) in 1981 and was a partner of the firm from 1996 to 2016. He is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, which is listed on Bursa Malaysia, Hong Leong Asia Ltd, The Straits Trading Company Limited and CSE Global Limited. He is a Board member of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore and SMRT Corporation Ltd. 

Mr Tan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the National University of Singapore and a Degree in International Environmental Management from the University of Adelaide. He is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a Fellow of both CPA Australia and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
