Was there a stranger whose presence, however brief, left a lasting impression?
Still remember the time sitting on the seashore near hotel room( a small villa ) talking with a gentle man working in the hotel there aimlessly about the Tsamuni happened in Maldives years before, also chatting about their fishing/football …, good wind with warm climate, sharing sadness and happiness together, do feeling world is small and can share thoughts in such beautiful environment.

If you could gift one part of this experience to someone else, what would it be?
Two cousins...and a baby. 17 years ago cousin Jo and I went for a short beach getaway with my baby E at Angsana Bintan. A much needed break for me, a newbie mum. Jo was a great help despite her youth. We were awed by the resort and pristine beach. Jo, I remember how you hugged E closely while at the windy beach, laughed about being blown away..almost. Let's go with our children for another trip!

Was there a moment when you felt part of something larger than yourself?
I arrived in Maldives broken, stressed from work and grieving a miscarriage. As we approached the Vabbinfaru Islands Banyan Tree, & witnessed the sun set over the sea outside our villa, I felt a powerful shift. Hope replaced despair. I realized struggles are temporary. That trip restored me, and today I run my own business with not just my son & my hubs, but also a beautiful baby girl by my side.

What did this journey invite you to let go of, and what did it allow you to embrace?
At Buahan, I stayed in a suite without walls, and it became a reflection of life itself. We build walls to feel safe, yet they often keep joy and connection out. When those walls fall, something shifts — the song of the river, the breath of the forest, and the fullness of life stream in. I was reminded that true transformation begins with openness. And that life can be led softly and gently.

Was there a moment when you felt part of something larger than yourself?
During my 3 days at Buahan Banyan Tree Escape, I felt something shift inside me. Waking up to the endless green, the silence broken only by birdsong, I realized how small I was compared to nature’s vastness. One evening, sitting under the stars with no walls around me, I felt connected—not just to the forest, but to every life it holds.

What did you taste here that you will remember forever?
Milestone means something. First to 100, it toke time, patience and passion. But only the careness as the local can make every single time as good and greatful as the first. At Banyan Tree Lijiang, I and my family tasted unique local tea and food with high standard and friendly hospitality. That was our first time to experience the Banyan Tree service, and the begining of pleasent journey.
