Established in 2009
Founded on the belief that businesses have a duty to do good, the Banyan Global Foundation embodies Banyan Group’s commitment to environmental and community stewardship by guiding responsible business efforts and allocating donations to worthy projects.
Green Imperative Fund
Funded by guest donations and dollar matching contributions by our resorts, the Green Imperative Fund (GIF) was introduced in 2001 to finance environmental action and community-based projects around the world.
Each resort is allocated a certain percentage of their previous year’s GIF contribution, at the discretion of the property’s General Manager and sustainability champions, following consultations with local stakeholders to identify impactful projects that create shared social and environmental value.
The funds are also used for research and development, where results are made available to the public.
Greater Good Grants
The Greater Good Grants was introduced in 2020 to further support community-driven projects that benefit local communities and the natural environment in areas where the our hotels and resorts operate.
To commemorate Banyan Group’s 30th anniversary in 2024, the Greater Good Grants funded 30 associate-led projects that support the Group’s overall direction in addressing the material topics of Climate Action, Waste, Water, Biodiversity, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Rewilding Banyan Fund
In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we established the Rewilding Banyan Fund, pledging US$1 from every direct booking to support long-term rewilding efforts to restore natural habitats in destinations where we operate.
