Our Approach
Adopting renewable energy is a crucial part of Banyan Group’s climate action strategy. To align ourselves with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), we updated our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) baseline from 2019 to 2022, expanded our carbon emissions measurements beyond hotels owned and managed by us to include non-hotel operations, and have included Scope 3 emissions.
Our Target
Based on our 2022 baseline, we set the target to achieve:
42% reduction in emissions by 2030
Our Progress
We continue to identify and implement resource conservation initiatives across different regions. In 2025, despite the continued growth of our portfolio, ongoing investments in renewable energy, energy-efficient systems and awareness efforts contributed to:
- 1% decrease in GHG emissions intensity
- 19.4% increase in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions
Challenges
Reducing GHG emissions will remain an ongoing priority for the Group.
As we continue to expand, we are grappling with the following challenges:
- Managing Emissions Amidst Growth
As Banyan Group continues to grow, reducing total emissions remains a challenge across an expanding portfolio and operational footprint.
- Value Chain Emissions in Remote Locations
In remote destinations, reducing Scope 3 emissions remains complex where air travel and local sourcing alternatives are limited.
Next Steps
In 2026 and beyond, we will continue to strengthen our climate action efforts by focusing on the following priorities:
