Support Wellbeing and Development

Our Approach

At Banyan Group, wellbeing is woven into how we live and work. It shapes the spaces we design, the experiences we offer and the way we support our people.
Our approach rests on three interconnected foundations: Safety & Stewardship, Capability & Culture and Philosophy & Practice.

Wellbeing

Wellbeing

We regularly assess wellbeing and organise activities, workshops and programmes to support our associates’ physical and mental health.

Our Associate Wellbeing Index, grounded in Banyan Group’s 8 Pillars of Wellbeing—rest, nourishment, connection, movement, mindfulness, growth, groundedness and practice—helps us track progress and identify areas for improvement.

We believe shared experiences foster stronger connections among associates, contributing to a supportive and harmonious work environment.

In 2025, over 1,318 wellbeing programmes were conducted and more than 42 of our hotels and resorts have established structured wellbeing calendars.

Fostering Wellbeing and Connection

In 2025, Banyan Tree introduced Banyan Tree Connections—a private wellbeing journey designed to nurture deeper connection through shared rituals, nature-based immersion and reflective practices. Rooted in Banyan Group’s holistic philosophy, the programme offers a place-based approach to wellbeing and was piloted at four destinations, welcoming 40 guests in its first year.

As guests increasingly seek more meaningful and conscious travel experiences, Banyan Group continues to embed wellbeing and sustainability into the guest journey in ways they can see, feel and participate in.

At the same time, initiatives such as Wellbeing Wednesday and the Wellbeing Diary helped bring small, meaningful wellbeing practices into everyday working life for associates.

Banyan Spa & Wellbeing Academy

The Banyan Spa & Wellbeing Academy continues to strengthen professional capability and wellbeing awareness across Banyan Group’s spa and wellbeing brands.

In 2025, 213 students completed foundational spa therapist training, 85 therapists enhanced their technical skills through advanced programmes, 77 guests participated in express wellbeing classes and the Academy received three Ministry awards in recognition of its leadership in wellbeing education.

Education and Livelihood Pathways

Through its partnership with Phang Nga Technical College, the Banyan Spa & Wellbeing Academy is helping create meaningful pathways from education into careers in wellbeing and hospitality. By combining accredited learning with hands-on experience, the programme supports students in building confidence, practical skills and long-term livelihood opportunities.

Challenges

Delivering wellbeing consistently across a growing global portfolio presents several ongoing challenges:

  • Maintaining Consistency Across a Growing Portfolio
Ensuring health, safety and crisis preparedness are applied consistently across a growing global portfolio remains an ongoing priority.
  • Supporting Associate Wellbeing in a Demanding Industry
The pace and intensity of hospitality work can place sustained pressure on physical and mental wellbeing, reinforcing the importance of embedding wellbeing into everyday operations and leadership.
  • Measuring Wellbeing Meaningfully
Because wellbeing is deeply personal and long-term, understanding its true impact requires more than standard metrics alone.

Next Steps

We approach wellbeing as a lifelong journey shaped by internal awareness, meaningful connection and sustained practice. In 2026 and beyond:

Strengthen health, safety and preparedness — We will continue to reinforce health, safety and crisis preparedness through training, reviews and regular drills across the Group.
Embed shared ownership of wellbeing — We will further integrate wellbeing into people and operational practices, while allowing flexibility for local contexts and teams.
Test and refine our wellbeing approaches — We will continue piloting and refining wellbeing initiatives to ensure they remain relevant and effective across different hospitality settings.
Improve insight and targeted support — We will use engagement feedback and internal insights to better understand where additional support and resources are needed.

Promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and championing the importance of diversity—creating opportunities for our associates, guests, and host communities to thrive as their authentic selves.

Take Climate Action

Climate change has far-reaching impacts on our destinations including on weather conditions, water security, and biodiversity. Because we want a future where everyone can thrive, we are playing our part in making hospitality a low-carbon industry.

Reduce Waste
With global waste projected to increase by 70% by 2050, adopting a circular economy and addressing food loss and waste is a matter of urgency. We strive to minimise the waste our operations generate while maximising composting, recycling and reuse. Being responsible stewards of our destinations, we also support community waste management efforts.
Conserve Water

Water is a precious resource and safeguarding it for local communities is our priority. We are therefore committed to using water efficiently, and capturing and recycling as much of it as we can.

Respect Biodiversity

How we choose our locations, design, build, and operate our business all have the potential to impact nature. We are determined to make our impact a positive one, especially on the land and sea surrounding our hotels and resorts.

Uplift Communities

Our host communities share their culture, craft, and spirit with our guests—so we give back through volunteering, charitable giving, and community programmes that build strong individuals.

Our focus on 3 Es—Education, Engagement, and Employment—helps us maximise our impact on local communities and support disadvantaged groups.
